Inleiding

Zover bekend was Hitlervervalser Reinhold Hanisch de eerste die zijn valse 'Hitlers' voorzag van echtheids-certificaten. Na de oorlog schreven andere zwendelaars honderden echtheids-certificaten bij overduidelijk valse Hitlerschilderijen en -tekeningen. En niet alleen bij zogenaamd door Hitler vervaardigde kunstwerken, ook bij allerhande andere vervalste Nazi-militaria en documenten werden echtheidscertificaten uitgeschreven. Het is een lucratieve handel: deze officieel uitziende maar waardeloze documenten geven vrijwel waardeloze voorwerpen een substantiële geld-waarde.

As far as is known Reinhold Hanisch was the first Hitler forger who issued certificates of authenticoty (coa) with his forged paintings. After the war other swindlers wrote hundreds of these certificates, that accompanied forged paintings and sketches. Not only for these forged works of art, but also for other alleged 'authentic' material from the Nazi era. It is a lucrative business: these official looking but worthless documents give almost worthless object a substantial financial value.

Peter Stahl

A story apart is Peter Stahl, a.k.a. Gregory Douglas ( Грегори Дуглас ), Christian Jürs, Arthur D. Royster, A.D. Royster, Samuel Prescott Bush, Freiherr von Mollendorf, Christopher Crowles, Bob Sonderby Karl Kolchak, Walter Storch, Michael Hunt, Peter Norton Birch, PeterNorwood Burch, Michael Suslov Friederich Hasek, George S. MacAlister and Gregory Douglas Alford

His real name seems to be Peter Norwood Burch (or Birch), born March 22, 1930 (although 1933 is also mentioned).

He's a kind of Baron von Münchhausen, since at least 1969 involved in the nazi memorabilia trade, still active in 2020. He knows a lot of all kind of fraud schemes in this shady business, but nothing of what he claims can be trusted, unless it is backed up by hard evidence.

He's also a rabiant anti-semite and complot theorist, with along history of misleading historians and journalists. It's interesting to notice that even David Irving warns against him.
